Necessary renovation work is underway in the land-based area of the Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum, in the final third of the tour. Starting Monday, July 14, 2025, the terrariums in the theme bays R to V will have to be temporarily covered to make room for these construction measures. These are home to the naked mole rats, crocodile-tailed lizards, and Titicaca giant frogs, among others. At the same time, the institute will offer its guests an alternative with small special exhibitions. Other areas of the museum are unaffected and can be visited without restrictions.
Sealing work is being carried out in the backstage area of the terrarium. For this reason, some of the animal inhabitants are being temporarily relocated to the educational wing of the Aquazoo. The affected enclosures are being fitted with screens. To allow continued use of the exhibition area, the screens themselves are being used as exhibition space: The Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum is using them to display, among other things, the exhibition "Geckos – The Lizards with Superpowers," which showcases the fascinating adaptations these scaly creatures have acquired over the course of evolution.
The privacy screens are scheduled to be fully erected by Friday, July 18th. Immediately afterwards, the walls will be reconfigured for the exhibitions. The renovation project is expected to be completed in spring 2026, allowing the temporarily relocated animals to return to their main habitat.
